Some of the following ideas are contrary to conventional wisdom, but I feel confident that they’re worth considering because they’re informed by my three decades as a career and education advisor plus my Berkeley Ph.D. specializing in the evaluation of education. Education matters less than you might think. For example, a University of Virginia study found that even when low-income kids were put in private schools, the cohort did no better, nor worse if attending a public school.
