Childhood is usually thought of as a happy, carefree time in life, but for thousands of children, that happiness can be elusive because of trauma, family disruption, life crises, and mental disorders. Left untreated, mental health problems in children and adolescents can become entrenched and result in arrested emotional development. Too often, dreams for the future fade and despair takes root. But there is hope and help. Child and Family Guidance Center provides a continuum of prevention, early intervention, and treatment services for children and their families, from birth to twenty-one years of age. The professional staff – psychiatrists, psychologists, clinical social workers, marriage and family therapists, case managers, special educators, adjunctive therapists, and behavioral specialists – is sensitive to each family’s unique situation and needs. Strength-based and family-focused, we are committed to assisting each family in helping their children realize their potential.
